“The one who cannot restrain their anger will wish undone, what their temper and irritation prompted them to do.”~ Horace
Oh, Horace, you know me well. Irritation feeds temper. Physical irritation makes dealing with mental irritation even harder. We all know that high temperatures in the summer lead to arguments. But I’m positing today that cold temperatures, snow and ice are even more irritating! I know the recent weather in the US Northeast has tested my equanimity!
It’s been a trial yesterday and today to control my temper. I do not like lashing out and saying the wrong thing, so I’ve been working very hard at restraining my anger (and I actually do have something to be angry about, but lashing out would be a grave error).
Ideally, I don’t restrain anger but channel it into constructive outlets. So far this hasn’t worked, so the best I can do is keep it under control. How? Basically I’ve just kept away from other humans! Some days are like that, aren’t they?
I’m a big one for control, but sometimes it’s nice to know that controlling temper is an age-old problem. It’s nice to know I’m not alone!
