“It’s the nature of babies to be in bliss.” ~Deepak Chopra
Babies are on my mind today because 23 years ago on this day I had my one and only baby. He’s a grown man now, and he’s really the person on earth I love best. And because he’s still single, I’m still the #1 woman in his life. Someday I’ll be replaced, but that’s only as it should be.
But babies are still on my mind. Because I stay in touch with so many students, I hear about babies all the time–expected, arrived and growing. This time of year, I’m treated to so many pictures, and they all fill me with joy.
There are times I despair of this world. It’s hard not to, and then I inevitably hear some news of impending life, and I’m filled with bliss, just like the babies themselves.
Watching a baby play, laugh and discover is to share in that bliss. They an be fasinating.
We don’t live in a perfect world, so not all babies are wanted, which is wrong, but most are. They are life continuing, a visible sign of hope for the future, and hope is a wonderful thing.
